About this instrument

The GAD-2 takes the two core GAD-7 items — feeling on edge and uncontrollable worry — for a quick read. Scoring happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

The GAD-2 is the first two GAD-7 items, validated by the original authors as a standalone ultra-brief screen that also picks up panic and social anxiety reasonably well.

Scoring sums the two items for 0-6; 3 or more is the usual cutoff for a fuller look. It answers one question only — is a more detailed assessment worthwhile?

If elevated, follow up with the full GAD-7 or talk to a professional. Screening exists to avoid misses, not to draw conclusions.
