About this instrument
This uses the OEPS v2 from the Open-Source Psychometrics Project — 36 statements then 18 pairs of opposite traits, 54 items total. Rate the first section on how true each is of you; in the second, mark which end of each pair you're closer to.
The Enneagram divides personality into nine types, each with a core want and fear (Type 1 fears being corrupt; Type 7 fears being trapped in pain). It began in 1950s spiritual teaching and spread through self-help and management training.
What makes the OEPS unusual is its criterion-keyed construction: items were selected from a large pool by how well they discriminated self-identified types — so it measures 'the Enneagram as people actually understand it' rather than one author's vision.
Official scoring: each type totals its items (a few bipolar items are reverse-keyed) and the highest score is your dominant type. We show the full nine-type ranking so you can see your second and third as well.
