About this instrument
The Flourishing Scale (Diener et al., 2010) measures the positive end of mental health - not 'is something wrong' but 'are you thriving'.
The Flourishing Scale (Diener et al., 2010) measures mental health from the positive side: purpose, supportive relationships, daily engagement, contribution, competence and optimism. It asks not 'is something wrong' but 'are you thriving'.
Scoring sums eight items for 8-56. A score of 40 or above is usually read as 'flourishing' - functioning well across the dimensions.
Flourishing and happiness are complementary lenses: one asks how you feel, the other how you function. Together they give a fuller picture than either alone.
